In September of 1959, the all new 356 Type B was released.

Porsche presented the new model with a revised T5 body and a significant number of technical and styling refinements over the outgoing Type A.

The new car featured new split fold rear seats, Becker radio, “Sombrero” chrome hub caps, oval air inlets under the bumper, chrome overriders, all new broad bonnet handle, new instruments and steering wheel.

The 356 B, produced from 1960 through 1963, represents the mid-point for Porsche’s design progression.

Available here is an Australian delivered Porsche 356 B sold new by Hamilton’s of Melbourne in 1960 offered in the classic combination of Silver over black leatherette.

The 356 Super 90 boasted having 90hp and was equipped with Koni shock absorbers and rear torsion bars. Upon its release, journalists praised the car for its handling, agility and responsiveness.

Walking around the car you’ll see subtle details, from the bright work, correct chrome hub-caps with crested centres and Reutter Custom Coachwork badges, to the high level of finish applied to the paint that this car has been masterfully refurbished, to original specifications.

Inside, the Silver dash matches the exterior and is complimented well by the neatly refurbished and original chrome VDO instrumentation. The leatherette seats have also been finished with a top-tier level craftsmanship and the overall feeling inside the driver focused cockpit is fresh but still very original.

To drive, this car conquers all others from its time and category. From its initial low-end torque and consistent power throughout the rev-range as well as its “on-rails” grip this pocket sized Porsche will amaze you with what it can do.

With easy shifting both up and down thanks to its fully synchromesh gearbox, this 356 B is a pleasure to drive around town and with plenty of luggage space inside and under the bonnet is also well equipped for weekend trips to escape the city.

Examples like this are becoming increasingly harder to find as demand in Australia and from abroad grows from strength to strength.

Excellently well prepared for its next custodian, Australian delivered with great provenance and fitted with a hi-performance Super 90 engine this 356 B is ready to drive off the showroom floor.

A must have addition for any garage or collection, this sprightly sports classic is one for the savvy driver.
