The instantly iconic Jaguar E Type was unveiled to the world at the Geneva Motor Show in 1961. If ever a sports car elicited powerful emotions, the sleek E Type is probably one of the most evocative.

Conceived as a synthesis of a competition racer and an everyday-use car. Jaguar's chief engineer, William M. Heynes, described the designers' intentions: "We decided at the commencement of development that this car was not to be a specialised racing car, although thegeneral approach to the design in both appearance and performance follows racing trends."

The aerodynamic styling of race cars clearly influenced the body's design - a functional yet unabashedly beautiful bullet-like silhouette. The body's subtle, swelling curves and depressions reflect carefully calculated geometries based on the ellipse. The most prominent feature - the long, projecting hood - is modelled with a distinctive "power bulge" that runs down the hood's centre to accommodate the powerful engine, in this particular example the most powerful variant of them all, the growling V12.

Yes, this particular example is a Jaguar E Type Series 3. Introduced in June 1971 with a much-revised specification. Primarily it showcased the new Jaguar 5.3 litre V12 engine and is easily identified by the wider track, wider wheels and tyres, slightly flared front and rear wheel arches, and large cross-slatted front grille. The distinctive rear badge proudly proclaims it as an E-Type V12.

The 2+2 Coupé allows for additional seating for two extra passengers. All models featured power steering as standard and used more powerful brakes and ventilated front brake discs. These features, together with the extra seating makes this the most versatile variant of one of the world's quintessential motoring icons.

Delivered to the very fortunate Mr B. Corsecaddon of Scarborough in North Yorkshire UK, this example retains its original Dark Blue (Glasurit # JAG-529) coachwork, original matching engine and is a factory manufactured right hand drive.

Under the long-term care of a gentleman from Brighton Victoria, this lovely machine was comprehensively restored and documented up to its completion in 2013. Originally specified in Light Blue, the interior has undergone a detailed reupholster in Tan by renowned trimmer Garry Blackman Interiors, which I'm sure you'll agree is stunning and complements the Dark Blue metalwork to a tee.

To complete the picture the car comes with a Jaguar Heritage Certificate confirming numbers, tools, handbook, photo documentation and receipts of the works carried out.

This big cat is perfectly ready to be admired and enjoyed when rapidly on the move, just as it is when sitting absolutely still. We invite you to come in and see for yourself.
