The first-generation Camaro - built from 1967 to 1969 - is the one everyone wants.

It was Chevrolet’s direct response to the Mustang, and the one that defined what a muscle car should look like: long bonnet, short deck, and just enough menace in the metalwork to make anything else on the road look apologetic.

This particular Series I Sport Coupe rolled out of Chevrolet’s Norwood, Ohio plant in 1968 as a 6-cylinder model, but that was only the beginning of its story. Decades later it’s been completely reborn - a full rotisserie restoration that stripped the shell to bare metal and rebuilt it piece by piece into the V8-powered machine it always deserved to be.

Finished in metallic blue with silver rally stripes, the car looks every bit the part: tight panel gaps, deep gloss, and just the right stance. Every nut, bolt, and bracket has been replaced or refurbished, with new panels fitted where required.

Under the bonnet, the transformation is complete. The original small-capacity drivetrain is long gone, replaced with a 383-cubic-inch stroker V8 built from an original 350 block - the internals all new, less than 5,000 km since the rebuild. It’s paired with a reconditioned automatic transmission and new torque converter, plus electronic ignition and an upgraded cooling system with a new radiator. It fires instantly, idles cleanly, and feels crisp in a way few classic muscle cars do.

Beneath the body sits a Hotchkis performance suspension setup front and rear, giving this Camaro proper composure through bends - firm, communicative, and remarkably sorted without losing its muscle-car feel. It’s a proper driver’s car now, not just a showpiece.

Inside, the cabin keeps its classic simplicity: big gauges, slim pillars, and that unmistakable view down the bonnet. Everything has been carefully restored, maintaining the car’s period character while tightening fit and finish throughout.

Supporting the work is a thick file of receipts and documentation that tracks every stage of the restoration - from the panel and paint work to the mechanical rebuild. It’s proof that this car wasn’t just refurbished, it was rebuilt with care and precision.

Turn the key and it wakes with that deep, unmistakable V8 burble - the sort of sound that makes you grin before you’ve moved an inch. On the road it feels alive, responsive, and reassuringly modern underneath the old-school shape.

Originally a humble six-cylinder, now a meticulously engineered restomod, this Series I Camaro captures everything that made the first generation so special - the looks, the sound, the stance - but with performance and reliability that finally match the legend.
