Automobiles of the 1940s and 50s around the globe were huge and trimmed to the teeth in chrome. Whilst most looked like spaceships and were stunning to look at, they cost a small fortune to own and maintain. Enter the Volkswagen Beetle; basic, yet it still managed to fit the family as well as its powerplant was a simple and in-expensive, robust small capacity air-cooled flat-four.

1970 saw the Beetle enter a new era. Already an automotive icon; the elementary choice for families, famously chosen by hippies circum-navigating the globe spreading love and featured in pictures such as the 1968 film “Herbie: The Love Bug”.

Available here is a rare Australian delivered, very original and collectible 1970 Volkswagen Beetle presented in Antarctica White over Red Leatherette, optioned with the very desirable and rather powerful 1500cc boxer engine.

Its original engine remains and mechanically sound, along with its body in incredible condition this fantastic little Beetle has had just three long term carers since it was purchased new in June 1970 from Kinsley Volkswagen, Five Dock, Sydney as per its original bill of sale and it is believed to have travelled an original 50,000 miles from new.

Withstanding the tests of time, the exterior presents beautifully, straight lines all around, the paint is unblemished and carries a clear finish. The red leatherette interior trim is immaculate as well plush carpets and colour matched white dashboard, along with its centrally mounted speedometer all presents in good order throughout.

Accompanied with its original jack and spare wheel, keys, original bill of sale, service booklet service documents and registration certificates, this little Beetle will satisfy even the discerning collector.

With fewer of these superb examples appearing on the market today, don’t miss an opportunity to acquire a piece of Volkswagen history as well as an automotive icon.
