What a period for Italy, Niki Lauda wins the Formula One World championship in the Ferrari, Italian disco and hip thrusting is going strong and Alfa Romeo gifts the sports car world with the series 2 spider.

The Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) is a two-seater, front engine, rear drive roadster successor to the Giulia Spider. It was manufactured from 1966 to 1994 in four distinct Series, each with modifications ranging from modest to extensive. Being assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco, it became the icon for cool Italian automotive in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The 2-litre twin-cam motor sung out 130+hp through two Weber carburetors. Weighing just over 1000kg and with a super flow design, this recipe made for beautiful festive driving.

Proudly presented is this Australian-delivered 105 Spider. Only having three loving owners , the current custodian purchased the classic Alfa in 1996.

After some time and relationship building with the car, the current owner began his long journey of ownership by starting off on having all the main mechanicals completely overhauled by classic Alfa racing specialist Spencer Rice at his shop ‘’Classic Speed Shop’’ in NSW. From engine through the gearbox to the brakes and suspension, the chassis was rebuilt to perfect operational specifications.

Next the body was repainted in the original Bianco colour with a twist of metallic by a classic car painter in Sydney’s southern suburbs.

He then finished off with the interior upholstery being totally restored and changed the beautiful original Ox Blood coloured vinyl to leather. This was completed over a decade ago and still presents in excellent condition today while showing the perfect effect of patina.

Every inch of the car has been kept to originality and maintained well making the end result a finely tuned machine of Italian engineering art. Coming with this wonderful opportunity are receipts of the restoration and maintenance work carried out.

As Alfa Romeos are now in the spotlight, any aficionado or new time classic car owner must take this chance to put their name and adventures on a lovely machine like this.
