The nickname for Enzo’s son, the Ferrari Dino was a total break from tradition. Dino, an engineer, passed tragically at the age of 24, just as he began making a case for performance-oriented six cylinder engines within the brand’s racing efforts. Enzo was determined to ensure his son’s name and R&D lived on.

The road going Dino 246 GT was born and debuted at the Turin Auto Show in November of 1969. Penned by design house Pininfarina and hand built by Scaglietti in Maranello, the mid-engined, RWD sportscar was aimed at the wealthy sporting enthusiast, rather than the uber-rich who favoured big V12 GT’s.

Few cars truly warrant the tag line ‘Most Beautiful in the World’ and of those, only a handful are as rewarding to drive as they are to look at. The immortal Ferrari Dino is one such classic.

For the first time in over 12 months, we are ecstatic to offer to the market this exceptional Dino GT.

Assembled by Italy’s best in 1973, this originally built right-hand drive GT was brought to England new by Maranello Concessionaires who was the importer for Great Britain in the beginning of time.

Ian M Stewart, the importer of Ferrari Dinos for Scotland, ordered the stunning Dino in June of 1973 in Azzuro Metalizzato over Blu Scuro and with optional extras of Metallic Grade Paint and Electric Windows. He sold it to its first owner, a local man Sir William Murray a Baronet and Lord of Ochtertyre, Scotland. Sir Murray enjoyed the GT for 3 years putting 15,500 miles of gorgeous country road driving.

18 years and 2 owners later, Shaun Lynn, an amateur racing driver from London, took over the ownership in 1994 and then in 1999, he began the special journey of a total restoration with one the industry leading classic Ferrari restorers Kevin O’Rourke of Moto Technique. Spanning over 14 months, every single detail of the car was carefully brought back to showroom condition. Rolling out of the workshop with 31,000 miles, the GT was finished and painted in the Blue Dino Metallic with the upholstery in Beige Leather with Black Carpets and famous mouse hair dashboard.

In 2013 Paul Hembery, former head of Pirelli motorsport acquired the car and enjoyed it until 2016 when the current owner purchased it with 35,000 miles.

Accompanying this beautiful car is a Ferrari bag with three very thick folders of information and history. An official Ferrari classiche redbook being one of the folders which successfully showcases the authenticity and originality of the Dino. Another large specially made red folder shows endless paperwork and receipts which allows us to track the car’s entire life. Also with the car is the original tool kit and jack safely housed in the leather pouches.

Finding a much-loved Dino with a very well-documented history is becoming very rare today. The condition of the car still stands incredibly well, which is a true testament to the quality of work completed in the restoration 24 years ago.

Being one of the 160 Dinos which visited Maranello in 2018 for the 50th birthday of the Ferrari Dino, this particular example has truly lived a special life and is the right car for the top level collector.
