Penned by Wolfgang Möbius and released in 1978 to critical acclaim, the Type 928 was Porsche’s first foray into super-modern GT production and it landed them European “Car of the Year”. Something another sports-car hasn’t achieved since.

Porsche designed the 928 as a replacement for the aging 911.

With unrivalled levels of refinement, luxury, technology, ground scorching V8 performance and futuristic styling the 928 was and still is one of the best driving and most sought after Porsche’s today.

The launch of the 928 S in 1982 saw the engine increased to 4.7 litre’s, power raised to 300hp, a new front and rear aero kit and side protection strips whilst still retaining the highly sought-after egg-shaped rear of the original car.

An original Tourist Delivery car spending a short time in Auckland, New Zealand before arriving in Sydney, Australia in January of 1983 the car offered is a 1982 Special Order Rosewood Metallic over Cadbury-Brown leather and Berber cloth trim 928 S.

Optioned with the hard to find 5 speed manual transmission ideal for getting the most out of this sporting GT package, electric seating, sunroof, electric windows, cruise control, air-conditioning and metallic paint this is a truly usable modern classic.

Maintained with zero expense spared through Porsche and Porsche specialists, Buchanan Automotive over the past 37 years, and just released from some 30 years of ownership by the same family this 928 S purrs, the drive is well balanced and agile with mountains of torque- absolutely on the button.

Inside, the two front occupants are accommodated well with low-slung buckets that hug and support with a variety of power adjustments, there is ample luggage space and a cool feature is the gauge cluster and the steering column move in tandem to suit all driver sizes- later imitated by the Nissan 300ZX.

The last service was in April of this year and included Engine oil and filter, brake fluid, coolant changed, tightened torque tube rear coupling bolt, all V belts adjusted, Gear selector (front) ball joint replaced, and Climate Control Slide Control Unit (HVAC) serviced.

Accompanying the car are the original service and owner manual booklets as well as a detailed folio of all modern service works and even the original dealer fitted radio. With prices of the right 928’s increasing steadily at home and abroad, now is a great time to own, experience and invest in one of Porsche’s finest.
