In 1966, Lamborghini designed what many consider to be the world's first supercar, the Miura.

An enduring style icon, the Miura was an impossibly hard act to follow yet Lamborghini pulled a rabbit out of the hat in 1974 with the release of the perfectly bodacious Countach.

The centre-fold of our automotive monthly's growing up, the Countach was styled, like its predecessor, by Bertone's Marcello Gandini and leaves you powerless to do anything but stare.

It's simply automotive design at it its most extreme; slots, scoops and strakes, mountains of rubber, more power than a TKO from Tyson, and a chest pummelling exhaust roar.

The most collectible car to own is the final incarnation of the big banger engines- the 455 hp 5.0 litre Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole with its lightweight Kevlar body panelling. Horsepower dropped down to 414 after the introduction of the "cleaner" fuel injection in the following series.

The car offered is an original right hand drive 1985 5000 Quattrovalvole sold new to London, UK in May of 1985 and presents in its original livery of Rosso Siviglia over two tone Grey/Black trim.

In excellent, turn-key and very original condition this rare car still carries important features like the signature Carello tail-lights, enormous O.Z. alloys fitted only to this model and its lightweight Kevlar composite body panels.

Inside the cockpit the original stereo is still present, the retro switch gear is in pristine condition and the handstitched leather across the seats, dash and steering wheel is still firm. All tell-tale signs of a meticulously maintained car.

Produced in less numbers than the 25th anniversary edition and arguably the ultimate Countach ever built, this pop-culture power house is something incredibly special.

Accompanying the car is a set of original logbooks housed within the original leather wallet, as well as a detailed dossier of service and registration information.

When Lamborghini's chief test pilot, Balboni was asked to describe the Countach he remarked "Ah, the Countach! Impossible! Nobody believed it was a car."

A leading edge example of one of the last great Supercars this rare Countach 5000 Quattrovalvole is the 1980's car to own, drive and invest in.
