Silver Rose | Coupé | 5 Speed Manual | 2.5 litre Turbocharged 4 cylinder | 51,762 miles | SOLD

The Series 1 944 Turbo landed in Australian showrooms in 1986 with a price tag of $115,000. Double the standard 944.

The 944 Turbo’s power delivery was lauded as reminiscent of early turbo 911’s, with peak torque arriving at just 4,000 rpm, plus an addictive surge from 2,500 rpm.

The power coupled with perfect handling at 50/50 weight distribution, disc brakes at all four wheels and an aggressively wide wheel track made the 944 Turbo a period cult car that today, has made it incredibly collectable.

Towards the end of the production of the 944 Turbo came the release of the Turbo S ‘Silver Rose’, known today as the “Holy Grail of ‘44s”.

This Turbo S comes with the rare M758 option package short for ‘Special Model Turbo S 1988 Pack’.

Fitted with the strongest code M44/52 engine unit, the Turbo S 944 was the fastest 4-cylinder production car at the time, producing 250 horsepower thanks to an enlarged K26/8 turbocharger, enlarged exhaust valves, upgraded transmission with an extra cooling unit, limited slip differential, larger brake discs, Brembo ST4 brake claws derived from the Porsche 928 S4 and ‘Clubsport’ wheels.

Never sold new in Australia and one of just 70 right-hand drive U.K cars, we are excited to bring to market one of the rarest and most desirable 944’s ever produced.

Delivered new by Dingle Garages LTD, North of Wales on the 3rd of February 1988 in its original Silver Rose paintwork and Burgundy Plaid interior trim, this example has been cherished since new with a recorded 51,762 miles travelled only.

Factory options include:

• Rear seat backrests individually folding

• Turbo S Pack

• Air conditioner

• Top-tinted windscreen

• ABS Antilock Brake System (Bosch)

• Cloth front seats with leatherette rear side

Accompanying the sale of this vehicle is its original book pack and service booklet which documents a fastidious maintenance history all with Porsche dealer and specialists from the U.K and Australia with its most recent service completed in April 2020 at 51,179 miles.

An absolute gem, this Turbo S 944 is one of the best RHD examples in Australia and possibly in the world. Just released from a private Porsche collection and ripe for its next custodian don’t miss this opportunity to own this desirable turbocharged front-engine classic Porsche.
