Blue-Black | Sedan | 4 Speed Automatic | 2.6 litre Inline 6 | 109,492 kms | SOLD

In the early 1990’s sports-luxury German automaker Mercedes-Benz decided to send off the famously ‘massively over-engineered’ (and now much sought after) W201 series with a bang and created a rare flagship model- the 190 E 2.6 Sportline.

The limited production 190 E 2.6 Sportline was offered with a raft of extras including Blue-Black paintwork with Grey Sacco panels and AMG body kit over the superb 2+2 Black leather Recaro factory bucket seats, sport tuned suspension taken from the Cosworth model, larger wheels and lower profile tires, larger sway bars, a close ratio steering box, smaller AMG leather steering wheel, Sportline gear shifter and Sportline exterior badging.

The larger 2.6 litre engine producing 165 horsepower combined with the handling and trim upgrades made this car incredibly surefooted and great fun to drive for the daily commute and weekend escapes. It also meant that the sticker price was about $130,000 which means that today, there are only a handful left. This was essentially Australia’s version of the Cosworth, which we never received.

The car offered is a 1990 Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.6 Sportline in Blue-Black over Grey built in March and delivered in May by Mercedes-Benz Brisbane travelled just 110,000 fully documented kilometres since new.

Optioned with fog lamps, Becker radio, sunroof, Pirelli tyres, 4 speed automatic transmission, green heat insulated glass, and paintwork protection this rare car has been impeccably well preserved with just two owners from new.

The condition both inside and out is second to none and totally original. From the smooth leather bucket seats, steering wheel and shifter with its pristine Sportline badge to the crisp original carpets, unmarked dash switch gear, superb panel fit and brilliant depth of finish to the original metallic paintwork are all tell-tale signs of a cherished car.

Accompanying the car are all of its original documents from the delivery receipt, first certificate of registration, log books, keys, data card, owner’s manual and service receipts- the latest of which is from January of this year.

In excellent running and driving condition, this limited edition Sportline is not only collectable, it’s ready to enjoy right off the showroom floor.

Offering exclusive ownership, unburstable build quality and great provenance, securing this 190 E 2.6 Sportline is a very savvy decision.
