Mention the name Alpina to any BMW enthusiast, or any car enthusiast for that matter, and the hairs on the back of their neck will start to tingle. For decades, the manufacturer has had a long and illustrious run of acting as official and unofficial performance tuning division for BMW.

Dating back to the early 1960’s when German craftsman Burkhard Bovensiepen decided the family business of typewriters was a little too boring, he started a business of enhancing BMW products.

The catalyst for the company was to take a boxy BMW 1500, fit a Weber twin-carburetor giving the 80hp engine a 15% boost, put together a snappy marketing campaign where “…for 950DM you can have 20 more horsepower…” and the dye was cast.

With as much power as BMW’s new 1800, it attracted the Bavarian Motor Werke interest enough that it began certifying and warranting Aplina modifications for customers. Within a decade, the tuning house began to gain serious traction for its passenger cars performance, styling and racing ambition culminating in the 1970 year with top honors in the European Touring Car Championship, 24 Hours of Spa and multiple hill climb and rally challenges. Later, Alpina led the development of the BMW 3.0 CSL lightweight to successfully compete against the might of Porsche’s 911 2.7RS.

Over the brand’s 50-year history, the most interesting Alpina creations have been the ones deemed too bodacious for BMW to produce in its own factories. With its power-driven, driver-focused, luxury style minded process.

Today, the Aplina brand creates exclusive vehicles for a very special circle of global enthusiasts who appreciate the extraordinary and individuality of what a bespoke car can be through a close co-operation with BMW.

With a model program including luxury sedans and SUV’s the new Alpina range offers a unique blend of qualities ranging from everyday utility to unparalleled driving comfort and impressive handling.

We are pleased to offer this near new Alpina XD3 with just 2,200kms. Finished in Sophistico Grey with a luxurious Black custom leather Interior, this example exudes individuality as only the Alpina brand can.

Powered by a straight 3.0ltr Bi-Turbo engine and boasting 355hp and a phenomenal 730Nm of torque from as little as 1,750rpm, the innovative hybrid technology delivers noticeable performance boost and the silky smooth 8-Speed Sport Automatic harmonises perfectly with the drivetrain.

Bold and dynamic, the XD3 is styled with the distinctive Alpina 20-spoke 22”classic wheels, larger front apron for additional cooling and well proportioned overhangs and aerodynamics emphasise the performance potential that lies within.

The Alpina XD3 offers a unique blend of qualities ranging from everyday useability to unparalleled driving comfort and impressive driving dynamic. Created in very limited numbers, this is a rare opportunity to own a very bespoke BMW from the famous tuning house of Alpina.
