In the rich history of Mercedes-Benz, the SL range - starting with the legendary Gullwing of 1954 through to the current R231 range of two-seaters today has always been the most glamorous, overtly sporting model to leave Stuttgart.

SL denotes Sport-Leicht, and the W107 SL range introduced in 1972 is one of the most solidly-engineered and exquisitely built cars ever designed- capable of crossing continents at high speed, in great comfort and in style.

Truly versatile, the W107 came with a quality hardtop capable of transforming the car from open roadster to coupe in inclement weather as well as the soft top.

Under the bonnet the 380 SL variant was powered by a 3.8 litre V8 engine developing 218 hp mated to a new four-speed automatic transmission with torque converter in the place of a previous fluid coupling making gear shifting feel near seamless.

Offered here is an Australian complied 1984 Mercedes-Benz 380 SL, a lovely original car ordered in Silver Metallic over Dark Blue MB Tex and has travelled 238,700 kilometres from new.

This 380 SL has been well cared for, the interior switch gear often brittle from the test of time is pristine, the Becker stereo is still present and the feel of the original seats and carpets is fresh.

The drive is superb, arguably the best handling W107, the 380 SL feels lighter upfront than the 560 SL yet acceleration is punchier than a 6-cylinder variant with an overall smooth and satisfying power delivery thanks to its throaty V8.

Accompanying this car is the original owners’ manuals bound within the plastic stamped wallet, the roof removal tools as well as both the soft and hard-tops.

With the international values of the early 60’s Pagoda Roof SL’s soaring, this 380 SL represents unrivalled value for money offering an all-round classic motoring package with reliability, performance and style from an era of top shelf automotive design never to be repeated.

This very original Mercedes-Benz is ready for your next weekend adventure and would make the perfect addition to any garage.
