After a 20-year partnership with Pininfarina producing some of the finest and fastest cars ever made, Ferrari turned to Bertone, off the back of their success with the Lamborghini Countach to design its first 2+2 mid-engined V8.
Ferrari engineers also worked closely with F1 legend, Nikki Lauda to develop the exceptional handling dynamics of the GT4, Lauda eventually remarking that the car was “mechanically really good and one of the best Ferrari’s ever made”.Road & Track Magazine’s 1974 test said “perhaps the most outstanding feature of the Dino 308 is the excellent ride it provides. There is no low-speed harshness and at speed the road irregularities are beautifully smoothed out. The progress, compared to earlier Ferraris, is enormous.”
The 308 GT4 Dino even went racing with Luigi Chinetti’s N.A.R.T. team at the 1974 24 Hours of Le Mans.
