Built between 1982 and 1991, the Porsche 944 was the replacement to the 924 that came before it.
Using the same platform but heavily reworked through chassis stiffening, improved suspension tuning and an all new, Porsche-designed 2.5-liter four-cylinder power unit, the 944 was a totally driver focused canyon carving machine with 50/50 weight distribution and an impressive 120 kilowatts on tap.Styling wise, the 944’s body was also given a wider, more hunkered down aggressive look thanks to bulging fender flares, new front and rear bumpers and a larger, 911-inspired rear wing.
The 944 is the classic, mid-eighties, pop-up headlight German sports car you need in your life but it’s magic recipe for driving pleasure meant that many landed on race tracks making an original, un-fettled car a needle in a haystack prospect.
Enter this first generation, Australian delivered and totally original 1983 Porsche 944 in special order Siena Red Metallic over Grey Beige leather trim with just 105,000 kilometres travelled.
Offered with its full suite of manuals, service receipts from Porsche and specialists, original keys and dealer brochure, this car is accompanied also by its Porsche Cars Australia options certificate and features:
• Special Order Metallic Paint
• Air Conditioning
• Front and Rear Stabilisers
• Sports Shock Absorbers
• Leather Seats
• Electric Windows
• Dolby Stereo
In superb and totally original condition this 944 was subject to a major mechanical overhaul in 2016 with regular servicing since and is absolutely on the button to drive.
A car on all good motoring journalists “models to watch” lists, this seriously good 944 was once the vanguard of a revolution, now uniquely positioned as a penny-wise, very collectable and enjoyable classic.
