Rock-solid, sporty, and packed with the latest engineering technologies and luxury options for its time, this 280 CE Mercedes-Benz could very well be the last car you’ll ever need.
Topping the range with 185hp on tap from its silky and free revving 2.8 litre double-overhead-camshaft straight six, and its timeless pillarless design, in a 1978 review Motor magazine said “the 280 CE’s performance enables the car's outstanding road manners to be explored and appreciated to the full.”Delivered new directly from the factory to Norfolk Island off the Australian east coast in August 1985 on the showroom floor is a stunning and exceedingly well-maintained example of a Mercedes-Benz 280 SE ordered in the stunning colour combination of Cypress Green metallic over a tan velour upholstery and has travelled just 141,000 miles from new.
The metallic paintwork carries a mirror finish with little to no blemishes, the interior is as if untouched, the velour trim on the seats is still with little wear, the original Becker radio remains and the switchgear and dials are all in working order.
Ordered from the Mercedes-Benz factory by a resident of Norfolk Island in June 1985, this 280 CE pit-stopped via Auckland, New Zealand and completed its journey to its destination in August 1985. It was in 1999 the Mercedes-Benz was shipped over to it’s final destination Queensland, Australia where it has resided ever since.
Excellently well-maintained from new with a complete documented service history with dockets of service receipts dating back to 1985. It is also accompanied with an owner’s manual within the original plastic Mercedes-Benz wallet, two original keys and toolkit.
One for the driver this excellently well-preserved classic makes so much sense on so many levels.
