Launched in 1975 and ever since wheedling its way under our collective skin, the Jaguar XJ-S was the sole successor to the fabled E-Type and was on the Jaguar Cars production line for 30 years.
Famed for its comfort, handling and its ability to perform with gusto the XJ-S was the archetypal British tourer to withhold a sort of Gentleman’s club ambience only a British built motorcar can genuinely create. However, it wasn’t until ’88, a time when Jaguar sportscar prospects wore handmade woollen pin-striped suits, a tailored white shirt, a Hermes tie and red socks were finally able to sink their teeth into the all new official in-house Jaguar Sport XJS V12 enhanced by Tom Walkinshaw Racing.
Capitalising on the exposure it would give his company, Tom Walkinshaw entered a deal with Jaguar to start a 50:50 venture to produce the Jaguar Sport XJS V12.
It featured a body kit that was developed in a wind tunnel, 16-inch Speedline alloys, lower and stiffer Bilstein suspension, the power steering was recalibrated for more road feel and a more sporty and efficient exhaust system was installed.
With far and few worldwide we are proud to offer this superb example of an Australian delivered 1989 Jaguar Sport XJS V12 enhanced by Tom Walkinshaw Racing sold new in March of 1989 to S.F Higgs of Woollahra, Sydney, ordered in the very desirable Solent Blue with Biscuit leather trim and having travelled just 135,000 kms from new this would be an excellent addition to any collection.
Powered by its long legged and silky smooth 5.3L V12 that generates 295 HP to its rear wheels the XJS V12 can sprint from 0 – 100 km/h in 7 seconds whilst boasting a symphonic wail as the revelations climb.
Presented in stunning condition throughout this well-maintained example boasts an impressive maintenance history. Currently running on brand new Continental Conti Sport Contact tyres this vehicle has recently had new shock absorbers replaced, an icy cold air-conditioning compressor replaced and its ABS rebuilt.
Accompanying the car is its original keys, original leather wrapped Jaguar service books and manual as well as an extensive history file detailing the maintenance works completed.
TWR enhanced Jaguar Sport vehicles rarely become available and with so few 1988-89 cars produced this example provides a great opportunity for a collectible investment and a weekend tourer. Upholding Jaguar Cars ethos “Grace and Pace” this stunning Jaguar is no exception.
