Designed in Turin by Pininfarina, engineered by Sochaux’s finest and elected European Car of the Year, the Rallye bred Peugeot 405 Mi 16 is a good example of how motorsport technology can transfer to the road.

The 405 Mi 16’s light alloy engine is directly derived from Peugeot’s Group A Rallye car that won 2 Paris to Dakar, renowned for its endless power delivery right throughout the rev range and pumping out 120 kilowatts in a car that weighs just over 1,000 kilograms.

Topping Peugeot’s range at the time, the 405 Mi 16 received a lot of kit too. A complete aero kit including the underbody, independent front and rear suspension with anti-roll bars, three channel Bendix anti-lock-brakes, ventilated disc brakes, power steering, sports bucket seats, leather sports steering wheel, climate-control air-con, power front windows, central locking, driving lights, fog lights, 14-inch alloy wheels and Red Mi 16 badging.

A globally recognised cult car today, back in 1992, here on our own soil, Peter Brock headed a three-car team of Peugeot 405 Mi 16 entries that tackled the Bathurst 12 Hour cementing the “Pug” with an attitude in Australian racing history.

The car offered is an incredibly rare Australian delivered, 1994 Peugeot 405 Mi 16 in Blanc Banquise over the sports Red and Charcoal trim travelled an original and fully documented 186,000 kilometres.

Kept long-term by just two owners, the first for 6 years and the second for 20, this totally original car is in superb running and driving condition. Still fitted with its original stereo, limited badging, 5 spoke alloy wheels and Prugeot Sekurit glass throughout although showing some signs of it’s age, this well preserved and totally original car is a credit to its last owner and an asset to the next.

The drive is also on the button. Known for having the best chassis on the market at the time, with no expense spared this car still stops, turns and goes like a new model. Acceleration is so linear and corners are so much fun, bang for buck, there isn’t much that will outstrip this 405 Mi 16.

Offered with its complete original book pack with brochures, original dealer principle business cards, owners manuals, warranty card and complete service booklet there wouldn’t be another example like this available.

Excellently prepared with brand new Bridgestone tyres to drive off the showroom floor, this affordable modern cult classic is steeped in racing history and so rarely seen.
