For its 4th generation, Porsche invested heavily within its halo car and produced perhaps the most pivotal 911 to date.

The Type 993 911 Carrera was 80% newer compared to the earlier Type 964 with all new coke bottle style architecture, a much improved multi-link rear suspension set-up and a heavily worked 3.6 litre engine.

Over the 964, the new 911 engine now produced 272hp, pushing air-cooled tech to its definitive capabilities and ultimately, was the last of the breed to leave Stuttgart.

Increasingly collectable and irresistibly drivable, the 993 perfectly blends classic 911 styling with modern tech for a totally engaging drive.

An upright windscreen, small dimensions, retro switchgear and a mechanical gearshift feel deliver that signature classic 911 drive whilst power delivery and razor-sharp chassis responses plant the car to the road asking zero questions before launching you from 0-100kmh in just 5.4 seconds.

Delivered new to Melbourne through Hamiltons, Richmond in May of 1996 available here is a Porsche 911 Type 993 Carrera 2 Cabriolet in its original Midnight Blue Metallic paintwork over Classic Grey perforated leather trim in outstanding original condition with just 96,000 kilometres travelled.

Ordered with Tiptronic S transmission, cruise control, Cup 2 alloy wheels, electric seats, windows and mirrors, air conditioning as well as the upgraded Hi-Fi system and colour-match soft top this well maintained 993 was optioned with a high-level of comfort and performance in mind and is perfectly prepped for its next custodian.

The interior still carries the signature 911 aroma, the leather seats are still firm to the touch without a stitch out of place and the blemish free dash and original, crystal clear VDO instrument binnacle show zero signs of age. Everything feels as though it’s cut from one piece, this car is from an era when engineers crafted cars rather than silver foxes in disconnected boardrooms.

Outside, all tell-tale signs from the presence of the original Sekurit glass, the correct and original Cup 2 alloys, the typically German precision panel fit and finish with no wear and even the original Bosch head lights show just how well this car has been looked after.

With superb service history since new and freshly serviced in January 2020 with works including all fluids replaced, new rear discs and pads this 993 911 Cabriolet is ready to drive off the showroom floor.

Supplied with its original leather bound book pack, service booklet and factory spare keys this remarkable 993 Carrera Cabriolet is a car that lifts your spirits in a way that a chunk of metal and four tyres really shouldn’t.

The air-cooled motor oozes character with its whirring and purring hum and the totally involving drive means you need to put thought into what you’re doing in a way that newer, fly by wire cars can’t offer anymore. Top down, threading winding tree lined escape roads this 911 is the perfect remedy to the daily grind.
