1996 Porsche 911 993 Carrera 4S

Has the 993 Type 911 become the greatest generation ever? Several years ago, most would say no, however with technology growing ever faster by the day and flowing through the sportscars of tomorrow, the last air-cooled 911 has shot upto the top of everyone's wish list.

The 993 was the Porsche that saved the Stuttgart auto makers while also proving that the 911 is the backbone of the company. With a smoothed out and refined design language over its predesessor ‘’the 964’’, the whole car was redesigned inside and out.

As always, the team at Classic Throttle Shop love to present a very special and unique example from the Porsche family and we are especially excited to have this 1996 Carrera 4S from the 993 series.

When walking into our famous art-deco showroom with the car poised straight ahead, the striking blue metallic paint with its red brake calipers distinguish it as something quite special. The lowered stance and rounded hips with the wide body Turbo look stops any visitor who passes by. Rather than dub its new model ‘Turbo look’, which would have cast it somewhat into the shadow of the real Turbo, Porsche created a new model, introducing it as the Carrera 4S – the numeral indicating it was all-wheel drive and the S implying a special model, akin to the original 911S.

Delivered new by Hamilton's of Melbourne, this fantastic C4S has only ever lived its life in Victoria by the state’s Porsche collectors. Complete with its original owners manuals and black leather wallet, the service book has every page stamped by Porsche or Porsche specialists. The wallet also comes with a new Porsche service book from Porsche Centre Melbourne which has been stamped and also with a new factory sticker showing the option codes.

Specified inside with a beautifully unqine two-tone leather interior, the name used for the light blue is Provence and the darker tops is Midnight blue. The condition of the inside is fantastic. The seats show normal but minimal signs of use for its age and the dash board, steering wheel and controls are all in great condition.

When sitting in the car and shutting the door, the clunk and feel gives great confidence in the build quality and also that this is one of the most finely built sports cars of its time.

Flick of the key and the naturally aspirated flat-six starts first go and idles like a swiss watch that has a race car exhaust system attached to it. The classic Porsche growl arouses the senses and is blended with surrounds of old school and modern usability.
