Honda's first supercar, the NSX debuted in Australia in 1991 and set new standards for the supercar class the NSX possessed excellent performance from its V-Tech engine while remaining as civilised as their other production road cars. Final sign off on the chassis was believed to be done by the legendary Ayton Senna through Honda’s supply of engines to F1.
Despite being developed during F1's turbo era, the NSX's 24-valve 3.0-litre V6 engine was normally aspirated. Equipped with the new VTEC variable valve timing system, the all-alloy unit produced 270bhp initially, which was good enough for a top speed of 168mph and a 0-60mph time of less than six seconds and 5 speed transmission. In 1997 the NSX underwent a performance upgrade that saw the arrival of a larger 3.2 litre engine with increased power and torque, which cut the 0-60mph time to 5.5 seconds. This revised model, being the type offered here, also featured a six-speed manual gearbox, variable power-assisted steering, and a drive-by-wire throttle.
The vehicle we have on offer is a sought-after Australian delivered, 3.2 litre V6 Targa ordered with a 6 speed manual transmission.
Presented in the excellent combination of Sebring Silver with Black Leather trim, this Japanese classic has travelled a very low 30,700 kilometres.
Sold new to its first owner in May, 1998 through Honda Leichhardt and changed hands to its second owner shortly after where it has remained in their possession ever since.
An exceptionally original car with complete Honda service history from new, air-conditioning, easy serviceability and amazing performance, this is a great opportunity to own one of the world’s best driving modern classics.
