Unparalleled, the Type 997.5 GT2 was Porsche’s most powerful, most expensive and fastest 911 ever produced.
Across the board, the 997 Generation fared better amongst drivers and enthusiasts compared to its forbear. At the time, Porsche’s motorsport budgets increased, paint work quality harkened back to former hand-crafted days, more powerful engines brought back some of Porsche's machismo and a general crispness to the suspension was consistently discussed that wasn't there before.
Road and Track Magazine called the GT2 of this generation “the modern-day equivalent of the 964 Turbo that we've all been waiting for”.
As if the standard 997 Generation 911 GT2 was not fast enough, Porsche decided to give the model one final send-off before the introduction of the 991, and it was decided that the GT2 would receive the full RS treatment.
Shedding a further 70kgs from the 1,440kgs curb weight of the standard GT2, the GT2 RS utilises additional carbon fibre body panels to help reduce any unnecessary weight.
At its heart is a new version of the twin-turbo, four-cam six-cylinder developed for the GT1 Le Mans race car.
This engine has been fitted with new four-valve heads, Variocam-Plus, and variable-turbine technology. All this brings the engine’s output to an incredible 620hp and 516 foot-pounds of torque delivered exclusively to the rear-wheels via a mechanical feeling manual transmission.
This GT2 RS doesn’t just deliver blistering performance, just 500 limited units were produced worldwide giving it exclusive collector status as well.
The car offered is a totally original Australian Delivered 997.5 GT2 RS, ordered in sporting Guards Red and Raw Carbon (the rarest factory colour option) over two-tone Red and Black leather and Alcantara trim.
Travelled just 4,500 kilometres, accompanying this car are all correct Porsche manuals bound within the leather wallet and both original Porsche keys.
A swan-song, solely driver focused edition 997, considered by many to be the best modern 911 money can buy, the GT2 RS delivers a spine-tingling drive that can only be conceived by one German automaker.
Resistance from any competition is futile.
