The Alfa Romeo 1750 GT was launched in 1967 introducing many updates and modifications as the successor to the Giulia Sprint GT Veloce that make it today one of the most collectible of the sporty 105 series Alfa’s.

The most significant change came in the way of performance. The engine capacity was increased to 1779 cc producing 120 hp at an early 5,500 rpm and when combined with a higher final drive ratio the 1750GT wasn’t just more responsive through twisty city streets, it also worked well as a grand tourer.

The chassis was also significantly modified with revised suspension geometry, wider wheels, a rear anti-roll bar and larger front disc brakes. And, aesthetically the 1750 GT received a more integrated nose design, new and larger dash instrumentation and new bucket seats with adjustable head-rests.

A perfectly classic blend of elegance and muscular design, it’s the distinctive details from the throaty engine note to the overall mechanical feel of the 1750 that set it apart from the rest and something that many consider the pinnacle of Alfa's 1960’s pocket GT’s.

This Australian delivered, original right hand drive and numbers matching Alfa Romeo 1750 GT was sold new by Frank Croft Motors, Sydney in July of 1970 ordered in Grigio Medio Metallizzato paintwork over Rossa leather.

The detailed documents accompanying the cars history suggest it received frequent yet limited use with regular servicing during the early stages of its life and by January 1977 it had covered just 24,000 Miles.

The subject of an exacting and professional restoration by marque specialists based in Sydney in 2016 in which all mechanical components were carefully re-commissioned as well as the body being painted in the correct shade of Medium Metallic Silver this 1750 GT is absolutely unrivalled.

The interior was also expertly re-upholstered to original specifications with the correct Rosso leather painstakingly sourced and fitted, the original switchgear artfully re-enamelled, instrumentation refurbished, carpets re-fitted and a new and correct steering wheel fitted.

The result has produced a drive that’s feels as if this car rolled off the Alec Mildren Alfa Romeo showroom floor yesterday. Sporty and mechanical with all the smells, sounds and textures that make sports cars from this golden age of automotive engineering so great , there is nothing better to escape mundane with than this 1970 1750 GT.

Accompanied by an extensive and meticulously kept history file that includes the original service manual with warranty card, owner’s handbook, restoration photographs and receipts, an original leather upholstery swatch, and service receipts dating back to the 70’s this 1750 GT is something extraordinarily special.

Fast becoming one of the world’s most desirable sports classics for its totally engaging drive and simplistic Bertone design this Alfa Romeo 1750 GT isn’t just one for the collector, this is the car that gets you up off the couch to thread some winding weekend roads.
