2006 Porsche Cayman S

Whilst most manufactures start a model with a coupe and re-engineer the car to a cabriolet version, Porsche’s approach was actually in reverse by releasing the Boxster in 1999 and 7 years later, launching their re-designed mid-engined coupe, the Porsche Cayman.

With a price tag stronger than the Boxster, Porsche had to justify the extra expense for the tin top… and they did.

The rear track was widened, kerb weight was down by 5kg, chassis was more rigid which improved the handling drastically and choosing the ‘S’ specification you were rewarded with a 3.4 litre flat-6 boxer engine which produced 291HP. The Cayman’s displacement was 200cc more than the Boxster S and had a 23HP advantage.
