1998 Ferrari F355 F1 GTS Rosso Corsa

Launched at the 1994 Geneva Motorshow, the Ferrari F355 was quoted by Road & Track magazine as having “probably the best sports-car engine ever made”, October 1994.

The undisputed champion within its class the F355 is 95% aesthetically and mechanically different to its predecessor, the F348 for all the right reasons.

The F355 was also the first production car fitted with an "F1" transmission using the same shifting technique developed by the manufacturer in competition. Something that will ensure its increasing value and collectability into the future.

Engineered from every angle to excite the F355 is lean, incredibly agile and broke records at the time for the output of a naturally aspirated production car engine – delivering a whopping 380hp from a lightweight 3.5 litre V8.

With the last of the great wedge profiles penned by Pininfarina, an aerodynamic fiberglass under tray that sucks the car to the road, electronic dampers to calculate road speed, brake pressure, suspension load and steering movements, and a centrally mounted flat-plane V8 capable of launching the car from 0-100km/h in just 4.5 seconds the F355 has a depth of brilliance no other manufacturer could match and is arguably a more engaging driving experience than any modern Ferrari on offer today.

Offered here is an exceptionally rare and totally original Ferrari F355 GTS in iconic Rosso Corsa paintwork over Nero leather trim, delivered new by John Cant Ferrari in 1998.

Travelling just 47,000 kilometres the only way to describe the condition both inside and out of this brilliantly presented F355 would be time-warp.

The original paintwork is complimented by the original OLSA and Valeo light lenses, the factory fitted Sigla glass is still in every window, the correct and original Magnetti Marelli wing mirrors, chrome badging and original blemish free 5 spoke alloys all present as if the car rolled off the production line yesterday.

The cockpit has been beautifully maintained to the same standard with the hand stitched leather dash showing zero signs of age, the original square-sided buckets stick to the driver like an over-the-shoulder roller coaster restraint, the original radio is still fitted, the switch gear and dials are without the usual stickiness and the feel of the F1 Paddle shifters is so precise.

Accompanied by the original log books documenting excellent service history in the leather pouch and leather tool kit, this F355 is a rare find. Conjuring more hp per litre than the V12 in the McLaren F1, the F355 was and still is an extremely fast car. Is this the perfect modern classic?
