When Porsche unveiled the first 911 Turbo in 1975, it instantly became the new benchmark of automotive high performance. Today, some five decades of engineering evolution later these vehicles have developed into some of the fastest, most capable and endlessly desirable road-going Porsche’s.
With each generation, the Turbo models are typically showcasing Porsche’s exceptional build quality, engineering and clinical attention to detail. None more so than the 997 Type 911 Turbo, which combined the best features of the previous generations with technical evolution and a vision of the future.Introduced in 2006 with a new water-cooled flat-six, Variable Turbine Geometry (VTG) and All-Wheel Drive, the 6th generation once again delivered on performance, power and practicality, a combination seldom found or attained by other manufactures.
The arrival of the 997.2 in 2010 pushed the needle even further with an increase in displacement to 3.8 litre producing a phenomenal 500bhp and 650Nm of torque. The introduction of the Porsche Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK), a high performance dual-clutch transmission, was another that road-going first for this model and huge technological step.
A direct transfer from motorsport, the PDK had its greatest success on the track in the 1980’s legendary Porsche 962 being able to achieve speeds and lap times significantly faster than the equivalent motorsport gearbox. With these learnings and the advancements in electric control systems in the 2000’s, the better, more comfortable, quicker and seamless PDK gearbox replaced Porsche’s Tiptronic. It further changed the dynamics of the car significantly and blitzed the sprint and performance times of the standard manual transmission.
We are very excited to bring to market this exceptional example 911 Turbo PDK. Finished in Basalt Black over Black leather it was delivered new by Porsche Centre Willoughby in December of 2010 with an exacting specification featuring:
• 7 speed PDK
• Bose Surround sound system
• Memory seats
• Dynamic cornering lights
• Sport chrono package plus
• PDK 3-spoke sports steering wheel with shift paddles
• Carbon package interior
• Porsche Active Suspension Management system
• Tyre pressure monitoring system
Travelled just on 80,722kms, accompanying this 911 Turbo are all the correct Porsche manuals bound in its original wallet and two keys. Completing its Porsche service history is a recent scheduled maintenance bringing everything up-to-date prior to sale.
A driver focused and technology driven 911, the 997.2 Turbo is considered by many to be the best modern 911 money can buy. The result being a spine-tingling yest in control drive experience that could only have been conceived and delivered by one German automaker.
