It marked the dawn of a new era at Aston Martin. Ford was eager to elevate the brand’s reputation and usher in a fresh generation to succeed the outgoing DB7 platform.
Code-named Project AM802, the task of redefining Aston Martin’s future was entrusted to the renowned designer Ian Callum, who was simultaneously making waves at Jaguar. Ulrich Bez, the CEO at the time, appointed Callum as the lead designer for both AM802 and AM305 (which would later become the V8 Vantage).
Unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2003, the Aston Martin DB9 Coupé was an instant triumph. Its blend of ride comfort, exhilarating performance, captivating soundtrack, and most importantly, its timeless design, was met with universal acclaim. Such was its success that Aston Martin continued to use the same platform until 2016.
Beneath the bonnet lies a thunderous naturally aspirated 6.0-litre V12 – arguably one of the finest-sounding powerplants ever created. Producing 450 horsepower, it propels the DB9 from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.7 seconds and delivers an impressive top speed of 299 km/h.
Presented here is an immaculately maintained 2005 Aston Martin DB9 Coupé, having covered just 31,000 kilometres since new. These cars were exceptionally difficult to acquire at the time due to high demand and the limited production capacity of the new Gaydon factory.
This particular vehicle was sourced by its sole owner in January 2005 through Aston Martin supplier Reg Vardy PLC of Stoneygate, UK. Based in London, the owner had a brief daily commute between home and the office before relocating to Sydney. As a cherished personal import, the DB9 arrived on Australian shores in 2008 with a mere 5,000 miles on the odometer.
Meticulously maintained and serviced with Aston Martin every year since new, this exceptional example boasts a fully stamped service booklet – a rarity for a vehicle with such low mileage. This DB9 is a testament to fastidious ownership and stands as a remarkable opportunity for the discerning collector.
