WPCS 2.1.0

Launched in 1945, the TC may have been a mildly revamped version of the short-lived TB, but the formula of traditional sports car styling, sparkling performance and affordability made the latest MG a winner, with some 10,000 examples rolling off the production lines at Abingdon over the next five years.

Some useful modifications were made to the TB’s suspension, with new shock absorbers and conventional springs in place of the sliding trunnion set-up of the pre-war model.

Despite a body style dating back to before WWII and an engine that produced 54 hp the MG TC had a profound effect on the American automotive scene and launched the sports car movement of the late 40s.

Compared to the large, softly sprung, and underpowered American cars of the period, the MG TC offered spritely handling and performance.

On offer is the incredibly rare example of the post war model. Purchased by the owner 15 years ago, this British classic was thoroughly enjoyed before the decision, 11 years later, was made to bring the machine back to a standard it deserves.

Monumentally restored to a superb level of both condition and performance, not a single expense was spared when the work was undertaken. The 1250cc inline 4 cylinder XPAG engine was removed and the body underwent a full strip down with a brand new chassis replacement brought in to begin the journey of a special build.

Heavily involved with the build was the MG TC master, Mr Percy Hunter. When the engine was assembled, everything from new rods & pistons were balanced with a new billet crankshaft. Completing the power plant and creating the mega power with raw sound is the modern Lotus supercharger fitted.

Other improvements to the body including the suspension and the brakes make this car not only drive like a dream but perform like a thoroughbred racer.

Every detail at every corner has been accounted for. The driving experience of this incredible build is like no other and any motoring enthusiast would cherish the opportunity to have a piece of usable history like this in their garage.
