The 356, created by Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche, stands as the inaugural Porsche production car. Its rear-engine configuration, lightweight construction, and precise German engineering might ring a bell. The 356 served as the ancestral foundation for the beloved Porsche 911 we recognize today.

Spanning four series - Pre-A, A, B, and C - from 1948 to 1965, the 356 underwent minor body changes and technological advancements - in September of 1959, the all new Porsche 356 B was released.

The new car featured new split-fold rear seats, Becker radio "Sombrero" chrome hubcaps, oval air inlets under the bumper, chrome overriders, an all-new broad bonnet handle, new instruments, and a steering wheel.

The 356B, produced from 1960 through 1963, represents the midpoint of Porsche's design progression.

Available here is an Australian-delivered Porsche 356 B, sold new by Hamilton's of Melbourne in 1960, offered in the classic combination of Silver over Black leatherette.

The 356 Super 90 boasted 90 hp and was equipped with Koni shock absorbers and rear torsion bars. Upon its release, journalists praised the car for its handling, agility, and responsiveness.

Walking around the car, you'll see subtle details, from the brightwork, correct chrome hubcaps with crested centers, and Reutter Custom Coachwork badges, to the high level of finish applied to the paint. This car has been masterfully refurbished to the original specifications.

Inside, the silver dash matches the exterior and is complemented well by the neatly refurbished and original chrome VDO instrumentation. The leatherette seats have also been finished with top-tier craftsmanship, and the overall feeling inside the driver-focused cockpit is fresh but still very original.

To drive, the car outperforms others from its time and category. With its initial low-end torque, consistent power throughout the rev range, and "on-rails" grip, this pocket-sized Porsche will amaze you with its capabilities.

With easy shifting both up and down, thanks to its fully synchromesh gearbox, this 356B is a pleasure to drive around town. It is also well-equipped for weekend trips to escape the city, with plenty of luggage space inside and under the bonnet.

Examples like this are becoming increasingly harder to find as demand in Australia and abroad continues to grow.

Purchased six years ago by the previous owner, the car was bought in Sydney and sent to Perth. It has just been released from his private collection.

Excellently prepared for its next owner, Porsche Centre Perth dealer carried out a comprehensive service of the car, with approximately $3000 spent to ensure everything was right with the car.

Australian delivered with great provenance and fitted with a high-performance Super 90 engine, this 356 B is ready to drive off the showroom floor.
