Launched at the September 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show, the Cayman S was a brave move for Porsche on the basis that it delivered nigh-on 911 performance but in a more dynamically balanced/driver friendly package.
Autocar magazine judged it Britain's Best Driver’s Car of 2006 (beating a 911 Turbo into third place) and the mid-engine two-seater drew rave reviews worldwide. Possessing greater torsional rigidity than the Boxster convertible with which it shared a platform, the Fixed Head Coupé was able to utilise stiffer suspension and thus enjoyed even better handling / roadholding.
Powered by a DOHC 3.4 litre ‘Flat Six’ engine allied to either 6 speed manual or 5 speed Tiptronic transmission, the Cayman S had some 291bhp/251lbft at its disposal and was reportedly capable of 0-100 kms in 5.1 seconds and 275 kms.
Styling cues borrowed from Porsche’s back catalogue (356, 550 Coupé and 904 Coupé) helped with the aesthetics, while the ergonomically designed cabin was suitably driver orientated.
Available on the showroom floor is an excellent Australian delivered 2006 Porsche Cayman S ordered in Artic Silver over Black leather interior with a 6 speed manual transmission and had travelled just 65,396 kilometres from new.
Optional features include:
• 6 Speed Manual Transmission
• Arctic Silver Metallic
• Heated Seats
• 3 Spoke steering wheel
• Black leather interior
