The 356, created by Ferdinand and Ferry Porsche, stands as the inaugural Porsche production car. Its rear-engine configuration, lightweight construction, and precise German engineering might ring a bell. The 356 served as the ancestral foundation for the beloved Porsche 911 we recognize today.

Spanning four series - Pre-A, A, B, and C - from 1948 to 1965, the 356 underwent minor body changes and technological advancements - in September of 1959, the all new Porsche 356 B was released.
It introduced safety enhancements to meet the growing demands of the U.S. market. These included redesigned sheet metal with raised front and rear bumpers, updated over-riders, higher-positioned headlamps, a larger hood handle, and front vent windows integrated into the doors.

Mechanical improvements featured upgraded transmission and drum brakes. Inside, a new deep-dish steering wheel and column, along with deeper rear seats, provided a more refined and refreshed interior.

By mid-1962, many 356B models transitioned to the updated T6 body style, which introduced a larger rear window, twin rear engine grilles, and the option of an elegantly redesigned horn-ring steering wheel.

CTS is excited to bring to market this fantastic classic driver, a 1963 Porsche 356 B T6 Coupe which started its life in the Long Beach, United States before being shipped to Australia in 1989 and being converted to RHD for Australian roads.

This classic Porsche is presented in a Porsche factory colour of Ivory White (paint code #6004”) and although an older restoration, it is in excellent condition with nuances of patina and the interior is in overall fantastic condition throughout, featuring a "new but made to look old" RetroSound stereo that has phone connectivity making it a great classic daily driver.

The 356 B’s lightweight construction and rear-engine layout gives it a nimble, responsive character. Despite its modest horsepower by today’s standards, the car feels lively and fun, especially on winding roads. The steering is unassisted but precise, rewarding drivers with a strong sense of connection to the road.

The owner from 1989 was able to record everything and have receipts from as early as 1987 all the way to today with no lapses. This fine example of a 356 has been meticulously maintained and if this car needed anything it was in the workshop getting it done immediately. The amount of detail on records throughout this cars life in Australia has been nothing short of perfect.

More recently, the vehicle underwent extensive work with Porsche Sydney which included a major overhaul of the motor in December 2023 and has since been lovingly enjoyed and maintained.

If you are looking for a car that is not only going to turn heads but make every gear change fun than you need to stop looking because this is it. Driving a 1963 Porsche 356 B is less about outright speed and more about enjoying the art of driving. Its analog nature requires skill and attention, making every journey rewarding. It’s not just transportation—it’s a time capsule that evokes the golden era of motoring.
