British Racing Green | Coupe | 4 Speed Manual | 4.2 litre Inline Six | 6,910 miles showing | AU$224,995

WPCS 2.1.0

In response to overwhelming demand, Jaguar introduced a more refined yet more powerful 4.2-litre E-Type in October 1964 to critical acclaim—no small feat following the successes of the earlier 3.8-litre model.

Whilst still retaining its original and unrivalled aerodynamics, exquisite lines, and sporting proportions—along with the disc brakes and independent suspension on all four wheels that made the E-Type legendary—maximum power was now achieved at lower revs, delivering real, usable point-and-shoot torque.

On top of this increase in torque, the 4.2-litre also benefitted from a new fully synchromesh gearbox, new vacuum boosters improving braking response, and a redesigned interior featuring body-moulded seating.

The result was an uncompromising yet more tractable and comfortable sports car that perfectly embodied Jaguar’s motto of grace, pace, and space—becoming, today, the most desirable and collectable driver’s E-Type.

The example on offer is the ideal driver’s car and a sound investment, presented in the timeless colour combination of British Racing Green over Tan leather trim. Arguably the most desirable E-Type ever built, this Australian-delivered, numbers-matching car was sold new by Bryson’s Jaguar, Sydney, in November 1965.

The subject of a meticulous, ground-up restoration over four years from the late 1980s into the early 1990s, the car received a complete engine and transmission rebuild, a fastidious interior retrim—including restored instrumentation—and a full rotisserie refurbishment of the bodywork by one of Sydney’s finest workshops, Classic Auto Craft. Today, this highly original E-Type not only presents superbly but also drives sensationally—just as Jaguar intended.

Still featuring a wealth of correct and original components, from the original Lucas tail-light lenses, correct chrome bumpers with overriders, and chrome wire wheels, to the proper wiring clips throughout the engine bay, along with original Lucas electrics and SU carburettors, this car would impress even the most discerning collector.

Inside the Spitfire-style cockpit, finer details such as the correct Smiths instrumentation, iconic toggle switchgear that never loses its charm, timber steering wheel, and leather-wrapped centre console all remain beautifully preserved—clear signs of a car cherished by a true enthusiast.

Perhaps its greatest attribute is the way it drives. Throttle response is instant, with well-balanced pedal feel from the accelerator, clutch, and brake, as if they were all cut from the same piece. The steering is precise and solid in hand, while the exhaust note from the rear is nothing short of symphonic.

This E-Type is perfect for winding, undulating country roads—where one can fully appreciate what makes this the greatest sports car ever built.

Accompanied by its owner’s manual, a full suite of receipts documenting the restoration, its heritage certificate, and all modern service records, this car is meticulously maintained and ready to drive straight from the showroom floor.

Far more than just a collector’s item, this Australian-delivered, numbers-matching E-Type is the ultimate weekend getaway car—a time machine that delivers the totally immersive mechanical driving experience that modern cars have left behind. A test drive is an absolute must.
