1965 Volkswagen Karmann Ghia

Styled by Italian’s and hand built by German’s. Made famous by building lightweight bodies for Italian marques for the Mille Miglia, the Carrozzeria Ghia design company have been building and designing cars since 1913. It was in 1955 when Ghia teamed up with German coachbuilding company Karmann and spawned the iconic 50’s classic, the Volkswagen Karmann Ghia.

Designers around the world dubbed the Karmann Ghia as one of the world’s most beautiful products.

Unlike the Beetle, the Karmann Ghia's body panels were butt-welded, hand-shaped, and smoothed with English pewter in a time-consuming process similar to higher-end manufacturers, resulting in the Karmann Ghia's higher price point.

The Karmann Ghia was dried stored here in Australia for 22 years with zero rust and the rarity of being a factory right hand drive Australian delivered example made it perfect candidate for a meticulous restoration.

Accompanied with the sale is a portfolio with photos documenting the restoration process of this lovely Karman Ghia and since being back on the road the car has been used sparingly presenting as if it's just left the showroom floor in 1965
