Atop the list of all-time great classic sports cars is the MG B roadster.

A car designed to appeal to the hearts and wallets of drivers the world over the B was also MG’s most performance-oriented model at the time.

Launched at the 1962 London Motor Show, the most desirable and collectable of its series Mk1 MG B features a dependable 1.8 litre B-series engine mated to a four-speed manual gearbox that loves to weave through the city weekend roads with creature comforts like wind-up windows, generously cushioned bucket-seats, a neat folding convertible top and of course, overdrive.

Available here we have one of the few Australian assembled 1966 Mk1 MG B’s in its original Tartan Red over Black upholstery with Red piping. Restored from the ground up this car is arguably one of the finest in the country and is perfectly prepared for its next custodian.

Subject to a total and no expense spared restoration from 1994 through to 1996 by British specialists, works on this stunning MG B included engine and carburettor reconditioning, new suspension components both front and rear, re-conditioned brakes, fresh paintwork and a masterfully re-trimmed interior with new carpets, seat coverings, tonneau cover and even a leather sleeve for the folding convertible top.

Maintained with meticulous effort post restoration, today the car presents in outstanding condition, still fitted with its original dash switch gear that never loses its novelty to use. A short drive of this car shows why the MG B has always had an enormous cult following.

Voted the UK’s favourite classic car by The Telegraph, 2010 this little roadster loves corners and shifting from 1st through to 4th all the way through the rev range.

Offering a great first foray into classic car ownership and/or an addition to an established collection, this MG B is at home beside your daily drive and a standout at the MG clubs national concours events.

Bang for buck, an Australian assembled and delivered MG B in professionally restored condition can’t be beaten and they’re so rarely available like this. As MG once said- “Someday you’ll settle down with a nice, sensible girl, a nice, sensible house, and a nice, sensible saloon- someday.
