Fiesta Red | Coupé | 5 Speed Manual ZF | 4.0 litre Straight Six | 60,660 miles showing | AU$724,995

WPCS 2.1.0

The penultimate gentleman’s sports coupé, conceived during the swingin’ 60s and the most recognisable design in the world, the Aston Martin DB6 was launched at the London Motor Show in October 1965 and marked a special occasion – the end of the original DB line.

The all-new design featured a functional Kamm tail, improving high-speed stability, split front and rear bumpers, a redesigned oil cooler aperture for the front valance, a ZF 5-speed manual transmission, a taller roofline, and a longer wheelbase, making the DB6 a faster, more dynamic sports car disguised as a more practical proposition.

The Aston Martin offered is an exceedingly original car, a 1967 DB6 Mk1 Vantage presented in its correct Fiesta Red over Black Connolly leather trim. It was delivered new through Aston Martin distributor Emptor Motors of Melbourne, Australia, in February 1967.

Options included: a Vantage motor, heated rear windows, chrome wheels, three-ear hubcaps, two safety belts, two rear lap belts, a Bosch radio, powered aerial, Fiamm horns, overriders, a Waso steering lock, and a 3.73:1 limited-slip differential.

Being one of only 268 Mk1s ever produced in right-hand drive with the desirable Vantage specification, incorporating a 4.0-litre inline six-cylinder powerplant with triple Weber carburettors, escalating performance from 287 to 325 horsepower and simultaneously achieving a 0–100 km/h sprint in just 6.1 seconds, this DB6 is an incredibly rare find.

Believed to have a genuine 60,660 miles on the clock, this numbers-matching Aston Martin is the most original example we’ve ever seen.

Kept within the same family, who were abalone farmers in Western Australia, this DB6 was passed from generation to generation for 51 years. Having spent the majority of its life in a dry Western Australian climate, this car has been amazingly preserved. Apart from detailed mechanical upkeep, this car has received ZERO restoration work.

We procured this vehicle in 2018 from the original family. When it arrived in Sydney, it was sitting on steel wheels, as the original wire wheels kept breaking on the harsh, corrugated roads in WA, and it was covered in red dust.

It was then sold to its current custodian, who has taken measures to continue the vehicle's preservation. This included commissioning leading Aston Martin specialist Concours Sportscar Restoration to dry-ice blast underneath the vehicle to reveal zero corrosion and seal it with a clear coat, overhauling the driveline, brakes, and suspension. They also added brand-new correct wheels, changed all perishables under the bonnet, and re-padded the driver's seat, ensuring the original trim was preserved.

From the patina across the paintwork, consistent factory-straight shut lines, and the original Triplex glass still fitted to the windows, to finer details like the hand-stitched and colour-coded leather fuel cap cover, this rare car has been excellently maintained.

Under the bonnet, you’ll find the original Vantage motor and running gear with zero mechanical modifications – even the original ignition coils and airbox are still present and accounted for.

Accompanying this DB6 Vantage is the incredibly hard-to-find owner’s instruction manual, Heritage Certificate, hand-written service receipts dating to the 1970s, more recent maintenance receipts, as well as the original toolkit, so often lost with time.

The final and ultimate incarnation of a truly golden period of Aston Martin engineering, featuring Superleggera (super-light) framework, independent suspension at all four corners, and hand-hammered, rolled, and whittled bodywork, the DB6 carries all the hallmarks of a special sports classic.

Whether it be an addition to a collection or a bedroom-wallpaper dream come true, this Aston Martin DB6 Vantage presents a unique opportunity to own, drive, and invest in one of the greatest Grand Touring sports cars ever made.
