In 1971 Jaguar introduced the Series 3 E Type featuring a Walter Hassan/Harry Mundy developed all-alloy, 5.3-litre, overhead-camshaft, 272hp producing V12 that would became the industry standard for its dynamic combination of smoothness, torque and characteristically British brutish power.

The last of a noble line, the Series III also featured ventilated front disc brakes, anti-dive front suspension and Adwest power-assisted steering, flared wheel arches, a larger radiator air intake complete with grille and a fearsome four-pipe “fish-tail” exhaust system.

This masterfully restored Series 3 E Type Roadster has spent the majority of its life in the hands of private collectors, including the current vendor.

Manufactured on the 4th of February, 1972 and delivered new by Henley’s of London this E Type was ordered in Signal Red over Black trim and Black soft top, optioned with the silky automatic transmission- exactly as it presents today.

Benefitting from a painstaking and professional restoration undertaken between 2013-2016 no expense was spared with all parts supplied by Jaguar specialists such as S.N.G Baratt and works completed by Australia’s best Jaguar mechanical, trim and body experts.

The result has delivered an unrivalled Series III V12 Roadster; the 2 pack paintwork carries a mirror finish complimented well by the correct and perfectly polished brightwork, the correct TEX mirrors, brand new chrome wire wheels and even the Lucas “Made In England” tail lights are still fitted and in great condition. Other small details like the way the soft-top is perfectly fitted are all tell-tale signs of a meticulously finished restoration.

Inside, the attention to detail is continued. From the correct and as new rocker switches to the expertly tailored seats, neatly finished dash, crystal clear Smiths instrumentation and leather wrapped steering wheel, this is one of the finest interiors we’ve seen.

The only non-original item is the CD/radio, which looks sympathetically similar to the original 8-track and fits neatly into the original aperture.

Last serviced in August of this year, this car is accompanied by an extensive history file with receipts for the entire restoration, a detailed log of all works, Owner’s Manual and Heritage Certificate confirming matching numbers and original colours.

A stand out car, finished with an attention to detail that has to be seen to be believed this last of Series 3 E Type would suit the most fastidious owner, equally at home on the concours lawn as it is threading winding weekend roads.

Well prepped to drive off the showroom floor and just in time for summer, this stunning car offers an exciting opportunity to sink your teeth into a landmark car within the storied history of Jaguar.
