1975 Alfa Romeo 1600 GT Junior

Few cars evoke such universal enthusiasm as Alfa Romeo’s 105 Series coupés.

Designed by the legendary Giorgetto Giugiaro during his tenure at the Bertone studio, these cars combine timeless aesthetics with exceptional mechanicals, creating a sports car that still delivers a thrilling and engaging driving experience.

Initially launched as the Giulia Sprint GT in 1963, the 105 Series featured a 1600cc version of Alfa’s iconic twin-cam engine, paired with a 5-speed gearbox and a superb chassis boasting fully independent suspension and disc brakes all around.

In total, only 14,299 GT 1600 Juniors were produced across four distinct series, making it one of the rarest variants of the 105 Series.

Presented here is an original right-hand drive 1600 GT Junior. As a late European-spec model, this example features 2-litre styling elements, including the front grille, dashboard, and seats. Delivered new in the Netherlands, this Junior was originally purchased by a special Australian ambassador, whose plan was to enjoy the car across Europe before importing it to Australia in the late 1970s.

Prior to 1978, this exquisite classic arrived in Australia, where it changed hands in 1979, becoming part of the Webb family. It remained in the family, passed from one member to another, until 2018. During this period, the car received significant attention to both its bodywork and mechanical components. Following the passing of its last family owner, the 1600 GT Junior was acquired by its current custodian. The previous owner, a renowned Alfa Romeo specialist, had restored and maintained numerous award-winning classic Alfas. His meticulous work ensured this car remained in excellent running condition while preserving its original charm.

This 1975 GT 1600 Junior retains its factory chassis number, matching engine, and gearbox. It also features an Australian compliance plate from when it was imported decades ago. The car is accompanied by a wealth of documentation, including folders of paperwork, service history, and even its original European number plate, further enriching its storied history.
