The Alfa Romeo Spider (105/115 series) is a two-seater, front engine, rear drive roadster successor to the Giulia Spider. It was manufactured from 1966 to 1994 in four distinct Series, each with modifications ranging from modest to extensive. Being assembled by Pininfarina in Grugliasco, it became the icon for cool Italian automotive in the 60s, 70s and 80s.

The 2 litre twin-cam motor sung out 130+hp through two Weber carburetors. Weighing just over 1000kg and with a super flow design, this recipe made for beautiful festive driving.

After looking at over 30 105 spiders to find the right one, the owner purchased this un-touched and absolutely original example in 1999. As a classic Alfa collector and long-term member of the Alfa Romeo club, the owner acquired this gem from a legend in the Alfa community, Tony McCone. The Australian delivered Series 2 then had only 2 owners during the previous 30 years.

1 year later in the year 2000, the kamm tail began the journey of a back-to-metal restoration over 4 years and guided by the Mr Tony McCone who was 70 years of age at the time.

The body work and total chassis reconditioning was carried out by the 105 factory in Victoria. The full engine rebuild was by Pace Engineering also in Victoria and both are spoken very highly in the community.

Every inch of the car has been restored to exact originality and even possesses new-old stock Carrello head & tail lights plus the original steering wheel. The end result is multiple award-winning work of Italian engineering art.

Up to now, the car has been maintained by Arnaldo & Pino Auto repairs who are old-school Alfa Romeo specialists and masters of keeping the crisp carburetors tuned.

Coming with this wonderful opportunity are photos and receipts of the restoration and maintenance work carried out, along with original owner’s manuals and 2 of the concours awards.

Any Alfa Romeo aficionado or new time classic car owner must take this chance to put their name and adventures on a machine like this.
