Few cars inspire such universal enthusiasm as Alfa Romeo’s 105 series coupes, with classical good looks from the pen of Giorgetto Giugiaro (whilst working at the Bertone studio) combining with fabulous mechanicals to create a sports car still capable of delivering an involving and rewarding driving experience. Originally designated the Giulia Sprint GT when launched back in 1963, the 105 series was initially powered by a 1600cc version of Alfa’s twin-cam engine, with a 5 speed gearbox and a superb chassis with fully independent suspension and disc brakes all round.
In total just 14,299 GT 1600 Juniors were built in four distinct series, making this one of the rarest 105 series variants produced.Presented is an original right-hand drive 1600 GT Junior. Being a late European spec model, the 1600s came with 2 litre styling, like the front grill, dashboard and seats. This Junior was first delivered new in the Netherlands for a special Australian ambassador who’s plan was to enjoy the car around Europe before importing the car back to her home country towards the end of the 70s.
Prior 1978, this wonderful classic entered Australia and in 1979 changed hands to enter the Webb family where it was passed on from family member to family member until 2018. During this time, the car has received much great attention to the body work and mechanically. After much time, the 1600 GT Junior was purchased by the current owner from the then deceased Webb estate. The last owner was a Alfa Romeo specialist who has restored and maintained many award winning classic Alfas. He has done a lot of maintenance work on this car, ensuring it is in perfect running order while keeping its original beauty.
This 1975 GT 1600 Junior is original and retains its factory chassis number and matching engine and gearbox. The car also has a Australian Compliance Plate for when it was brought into the country so long ago. It comes with many folders of all the paper work and history, including the number plate the car had in Europe. This cements the great story of ownership and mechanical work.
This Alfa Romeo GT 1600 Junior is a sound example of a delightful Italian classic and is ready for nice drives ahead for any Alfa enthusiast.
