Grand Prix White over Cork Interior | Coupe | 5 Speed Manual | 3.0 litre Flat-Six | 234,033 kms | SOLD

WPCS 2.1.0

The 911 SC (Super Carrera) fulfilled its name and was launched as the fastest naturally aspirated Porsche of the time. With plenty of power and torque available early, the 3.0 litre 911 SC has a smooth, sweet-revving character and a totally engaging drive.

Few cars are as truly legendary as the Porsche 911. Instantly recognised the world over, it is a car that has stood the test of time, whilst remaining highly desirable and as capable as almost anything on the road.

The 911 concept of 1963 heralded the start of a production run even Porsche probably didn’t expect to reach – and no doubt surpass – six decades later it is still the worlds most successful sportcar. Designed as a larger, more practical version of the 356 with an extra pair of seats, critics were quick to pounce on its lack of focus, however its performance, versatility and practicality won them over in spades.

Early 911s used two-litre engines with as little as 130bhp, though they also weighed bang on a tonne. Both engine sizes and power outputs swelled over the next decade, culminating in perhaps the most coveted of all early 911s, the 210bhp 2.7 Carrera RS.

Each new iteration of 911 was internally codenamed with a letter of the alphabet, but it wasn’t until reaching G that there was a discernable difference in styling and tech, and the dawn of a new generation.

The G-Series, debuting in 1973 (and only being replaced in 1989), was the most significant move made in this time along with the introduction of turbocharging to the 911. Arriving in 1975 with a mighty 3.0ltr, 260bhp powering the rear wheels, this engine and its displacement was carried over into the newly modelled 911 Super Carrera. (911 SC)

These full alloy 3.0 litre engines were far more reliable than the 2.7 litre engine they replaced. Distinctly, memorably and addictively different in the way it engages the driver, separating itself from the early 70’s 911's, these Super Carrera’s were designed to launch Porsche into the 80’s A landmark car within the celebrated history of Porsche built between 1978 and 1983, devoid of the electronic gizmos that increasingly found their way into Porsche's throughout the 1980’s and beyond.

Offered here is one of the first exceptionally rare Australian delivered numbers matching 911SC in Grand Prix White over an original cork interior.

With its strong 6 cylinder flat-six producing 180hp and higher rev band, the drive is as performance orientated as it is easy to drive, demonstrating why these Super Carrera's are so sought after.

One of just 71 vehicles, this very early Australian delivered example was delivered new by John Newell Motors in Bass Hill NSW. It is accompanied by its original log books all kept in a Porsche vinyl pouch. Due to an extensive maintenance record a new Porsche log book has been provided with the car as well.

The car has been clearly looked after over its life, and has been completely mechanically overhauled in recent years, receiving an engine rebuild by BWA Auto. On top of this, rolled out of a full respray from Zag’s Autobody in its original Grand Prix White less than 2 years ago. The cork interior has is in fantastic original condition, with the only change being the front seats refinished to as new standard. The air-conditioning and the lightness of the space make it a most inviting place to be.

The condition of this car has to be seen to be believed, we are very excited to bring it to the market as it is a credit to its previous owners and an asset to the next. Be the one to explore the surefooted handling as well as its whirring purring, quintessentially acceleration of this 911SC.

Ever since its inception in 1963, the 911 has been the people’s SuperCar, bringing the heat to the likes of Ferrari and Lamborghini in terms of performance, yet remaining useable on a daily basis and of course being more accessible price-wise. In short, the Porsche 911 is an icon of modern motoring and one that has already cemented its place in the history books.
