In the pursuit of creating a world-class Grand Tourer, starting in 1980 Alfa Romeo took their Giorgetto Guigaro styled four-cylinder Alfetta GT coupe and shoehorned a 2.5 litre V6 power unit with Bosch fuel injection into the engine bay.

They then ingeniously added a transaxle, De Dion rear suspension, and a Watt’s parallelogram linkage to the rear, wishbone suspension up front with increased negative camber to reduce understeer and front ventilated disc brakes with the rears inboard.

An automotive engineer’s spiritual happy place, this front engined, rear-wheel drive pièce de résistance went on to win the European Touring Car Championship against Audi, BMW, and Jaguar for four successive seasons from 1982-1985 as well as the BTCC with Andy Rouse, then France, Italy, Australia… winning everywhere.

Because of its association with motorsport, modifying the GTV6 was commonplace meaning that today it’s incredibly hard to find an original car.
We’re proud to present this exceptionally well maintained Australian delivered, very original and early Alfa Romeo GTV6.

Built in February of 1982 and ordered in Red over Charcoal velour trim with White highlights this rare car is believed to be 1 of just 37 “split dash” GTV6’s sold in Australia.

The function of the split dash was to give the driver a full view of all instrumentation at all times, particularly useful when racing.

Subject to a zero expense spared and faithful refurbishment between 2014-2017 this stunning GTV6 would be one of the finest in the country.

Opening the driver’s door you’re immediately hit with that familiar smell of petrol, timber, the 1980’s and that unique Alfa Romeo aroma. The dash shows zero signs of age and the round air-conditioning vents still have the ‘how to use’ decal attached.

The original door cards are in pristine condition, so too is all of the original switch gear including the air-conditioning, the leather boot surrounding the timber gear shifter and the iconic driver sticking Alfa Romeo sports style seats with head-rests.

Under the bonnet, the engine received a total overhaul with all new internals, gaskets and leads using new/old stock parts, a period correct muffler and tail pipe were painstakingly sourced and fitted and even the correct safety decals for the firewall and washer fluid bottle were sourced.

The original transmission was also rebuilt and the end result is an as per factory engine bay, meticulously tidy and in excellent running order.

Outside, the paint finish is deep and the shut lines are to a factory standard; both tell-tale signs of a car that has led a cherished life.

All the badges, moldings, seals and bumpers are in fantastic condition, the original VetroEuropa glass is still present, so too are the correct Vitaloni wing mirrors and the original and well refinished Campagnolo wheels fitted with period correct 195x60x15 tyres.

Professionally refurbished, this rare Alfa Romeo GTV6 delivers an audible and tactile injection of endorphins the moment you step inside, turn the key and rev that free breathing motor.

For more than 100 years Alfa Romeo has been an Italian motorsport legend and that pedigree shines through within this GTV6 with its totally analogue but wholly engaging drive.

Accompanied by a detailed file of the refurbishment this excellently prepared Alfa Romeo GTV6 offers giant killing value for money classic motoring only an Alfa can deliver.
