Kiln Red | Coupé | 5-Speed Manual | 3.0 litre Flat Six | 128,406 kms | AU$189,995

WPCS 2.1.0

Among the last of the truly classic 911 models was the Super Carrera (SC).

A landmark car within the celebrated history of Porsche, built between 1978 and 1983, it was devoid of the electronic gizmos that increasingly found their way into Porsches throughout the 1980s and beyond. The 911 SC delivered a true analogue experience.

As the fastest naturally aspirated Porsche from 0-100 km/h to hit the tarmac at the time, the 911 SC badge tells enthusiasts that the all-alloy engine’s displacement was increased from 2.7 to 3.0 litres. There’s a new oil cooler hidden within the front wing, and its Thyssen zinc-coated galvanised bodyshell and use of high-quality materials both inside and out enable the 911 SC to endure the ravages of time, making it one of the most usable, enjoyable, and collectable Porsches today.

With plenty of power and torque available early, the 3.0-litre 911 SC has a smooth, sweet-revving character and a totally engaging drive. These engines were also much more reliable than the 2.7-litre flat-six they replaced.

We are excited to bring to market this superb example of an Australian-delivered and numbers-matching 1983 Porsche 911 SC Coupe that oozes cool, presented in its original colour of Kiln Red metallic over a unique Berber interior trim. Optioned with a factory sunroof delete—and with all Australian-specification cars typically fitted with a sunroof as standard—this feature is rarely seen and highly sought after.

Delivered through Hamiltons, South Yarra in March 1983, this 911 SC has travelled just 128,000 kilometres and has had only two owners from new, with the second owner having kept the vehicle for 40 years.

Today, the car presents in excellent condition throughout. The interior is completely original and in mint condition; the paintwork has a mirror finish, protected with Paint Protection Film on the front half, and it is without doubt the tightest-driving example we have ever come across.

Accompanying this vehicle are its two keys and original book pack, including the original service book, which documents an excellent maintenance history completed by marque specialists.

To drive this car is effortless. Each gear change with its 915 transmission is smooth and precise, the motor pulls linearly throughout the rev range, and under peak power, it sings as a Porsche flat-six should, guaranteed to bring a grin to anyone with a pulse. In the corners, defying all physics in true 911 fashion, the SC is poised with perfect balance, plenty of grip, and pinpoint steering.

Always a fantastic place to sit, you are surrounded by the iconic drive dials with the central rev gauge—a place where any driving enthusiast feels at home. This Porsche 911 SC is an ownership experience everyone should partake in at least once in their lifetime.

Addictively engaging, never ever boring, with a unique colour combination, this 911 is the perfect example to get out and drive.
