Big, bold and purely Australian- the original WB Statesman was the Iron Lion’s Halo luxury cruiser from the age of excess and in the mid-1980’s was coming to the end of its life span.

The WB Statesman had the purest Australian pedigree of its kind - owing nothing to an overseas platform and was powered by an all-Aussie-built V8, which today has seen it quickly gain collector status, especially after Holden sadly closed its doors.

Not a lot of information about this special edition WB Statesman exists but what is known is that as a strictly limited-production runout model, for the last few cars Holden employed Peter Brock and HDT to customise and improve the Statesman.

Touched by the hand of God, this car became known as the Brock Magnum.

Peter Brock’s take on high-performance luxury grand-touring - something that would comfortably cross the continent at great speed, owners with pockets deep enough could customise the Magnum with an extensive list of HDT performance and cosmetic upgrades.

The “HDT Magnum Pack” offered Group 3 specs including a Blueprinted High-Output 5.0 Litre engine with a Bathurst SS inlet manifold, high capacity air cleaner and cold air intake, blueprinted ignition system and heat-proofed headers, Heavy duty rear axle with an LSD, Bilstein shock absorbers and HDT stabilisers, lowered HDT springs, disc brakes and a Heavy Duty brake master cylinder, chrome rocker covers, a huge range of HDT and Momo alloy wheels to choose from, Peter Brock Momo leather steering wheel, Black chrome exterior trim, headlight flush-fit kit, colour coded bumpers and more.

After the HDT makeover, no two Brock Magnum’s were alike and after a factory test at Calder where it finished only 2-3 seconds behind his Commodore, Brock famously said “the Magnum, it was a weapon…”.

The exceptionally rare find offered here is THE very last Brock Magnum off the production line.

In totally original and simply superb condition this 1984 Brock Magnum was delivered new to Sydney by Ron Hodgson Holden in May of 1985 and has had just three enthusiast owners, the second owner maintaining it in private storage for 22 years.

Travelled a total of 24,557 original kilometres and corresponding to its original options sheet signed off by Peter Brock this car is presented in its original Creulean over Blue Velour trim and was ordered with:

• Dual-Guard Rust Proofing

• Chapman Lock

• Towbar

• Steal Stopper 5000 alarm

• HDT Magnum Conversion

• HDT Exterior Paint Treatment

Preserved so incredibly well, from the Black chrome exterior trim, Silver Magnum decals and original 15 inch HDT Hi Flow alloys still wearing the original Pirelli P6 radial tyres to the smooth velour trim, mint condition Momo steering wheel and as new engine bay complete with Peter Brock decals and HDT build plate this Brock Magnum would have to be the finest surviving original car in the country.

Accompanied by its original book pack featuring the Holden options list, HDT build sheet signed off by Brock, Ron Hodgson brochure and Magnum Force brochure, warranty cards and 1st service checklist plus both original keys and even an original Gregorey’s street directory with period 20 cent piece ready for a payphone emergency call the originality, significance and collectability of this last of car cannot be understated.

In excellent running and driving condition with that signature Group 3 HDT cam burble and recently serviced this landmark car from Australia’s landmark automotive brand would suit the most astute collector and enthusiast. The availability of this car is an exceptionally rare opportunity not to be missed.
