After six years of development, the W126 was introduced at the IAA Frankfurt in September 1979. Led by Mercedes chief designer Bruno Sacco they aimed to create the most aerodynamic S class to date. Achieving a class leading 0.36 Cd and with the objective of retaining the title of the “World’s Best Luxury Car” for the next decade the W126 pioneered a number of safety systems like ABS and SRS airbags which helped make the new S-Class the first production car able to meet stringent new regulations for surviving a frontal offset collision.

The W126 range succeeded admirably, achieving critical acclaim the world over - including Australia, taking out Wheels magazine’s coveted “Car of the Year” award for 1981.

A couple who lived in Manly on the Northern Beaches of Sydney who had just purchased the Boulevarde Motel in Wagga could very well have read that article as they decided the perfect car to make the commute back and forth was this beautifully specified 300SE.

They purchased the 300SE new from Marshalls Mercedes Benz Parramatta in the lovely combination of Artic white over a grey interior. The car began to be used as it was intended and over the course 22 years the 300SE amassed a comprehensive Mercedes service history between Wagga Mercedes, G Brothers Mercedes (Northern Beaches) and Marshalls.

The primary driver of this car unfortunately passed away and the car was placed into storage for a number of years until being discovered and purchased by a W126 enthusiast with big plans to bring this 300SE back to its former glory.

After a light restoration the car was back in use and has since has been sold from one Mercedes enthusiast to the next. With the majority of its Km’s being had by the first owner the car has since been used sparingly and is currently showing 133,911kms, with W126’s being known to travel hundred of thousands of Km’s this 300SE has barely been run in!

Ready for its next trip to Wagga this S class is presenting beautifully with all the tell tale signs of a true enthusiast's ownership, don’t miss your chance to see this time capsule and call one of the team to book an appointment today.
