Launched in 1983, the Porsche 911 3.2 Carrera seamlessly combined the traditions of its predecessors with touches of modernity, comfort, and enhanced performance. This model was chosen to commemorate the 25 years of the 911.
As a special edition in MY89, marking the end of the 3.2 Carrera production, this particular example stands out as one of only six hard-top 911 3.2 Carrera 25th-anniversary models ever delivered new in Australia. Globally, Porsche sold 875 units, all adorned in 'Marine Metallic Blue' with colour-matched Fuchs wheels. Australia received a total of 12 units – six with roofs and six without. This hardtop variant was originally delivered by Porsche Willoughby in NSW to its first owner in January 1989. The vehicle, cherished by its owners, covered 275,398 kilometers before undergoing a comprehensive restoration in 2017 by its previous owner, a respected Porsche collector.
The engine underwent a thorough rebuild by the marque specialist Cavaco Motors, with the G50 manual transmission, differential, and suspension also reconditioned simultaneously. In addition, all-new wiring and a fresh fuel tank were installed. Remarkably, the original underbody wax finish was preserved during the extensive body restoration and repaint, showcasing the meticulous nature of the restoration. The entire process was meticulously documented, with detailed images and receipts available for interested parties.
The restoration extended to the interior, receiving a complete overhaul, now presenting as if the car just rolled out of the Porsche factory in 1989, if not in an even better condition. The car comes with its Porsche leather wallet and books, having been sparingly used since the refresh. This rare and significant commemorative edition is sure to be the highlight of any collection.
