30 long years passed after much demand for Porsche to re-visit a trip down memory lane to the concept of the original 356 Speedster and thankfully they gave in. In 1989 for one year only, the world was given the all new designed 911 Speedster.
Using a K-Series chassis which was soon to be out of production making way for the Type 964, the Speedster was styled paying tribute to its ancestor featuring a cut-down slanted removable windshield and a thin fabric folding top combined with the 'double hump' clamshell fibreglass tonneau cover. The Speedster was fitted with the air-cooled horizontally opposed 3.2 litre Flat-Six and the favoured G50 5 Speed manual transmission that fed all 217 ponies back to its rear wheels.
Typically, the 911 Speedster is highly exclusive to own due to most examples being swept up by collectors globally and with so few made worldwide it has always been incredibly difficult to get your hands on one.
Australian delivered, numbers matching and one of just 40 cars to make it to our shores this 1989 Porsche 911 Speedster was sold new by Scuderia Veloce Motors Sydney in September of 1989 where it was ordered in Guards Red over Black trim.
Optioned with the M491 Turbo-Look Wide body, Shorter Shifter Lever, Electronically Adjustable Comfort seats with Drivers-side Lumbar Support and Air-Conditioning.
With the paintwork still in superb condition, indicative of the low kilometres travelled with just 23,000 documented kilometres on the clock, the leather seats, dash and door cards show minimal to no signs of age, the original Porsche stereo is still accounted for and all of the switch gear is factory fresh.
Recently released from a private collection and prior to that long-term ownership, this exceedingly original car still carries all of its factory decals and under-bonnet trim label along with its original tool roll, air compressor kit, receipts from recent service works in February 2018 (travelling just 39 kilometres since), owner's manual and maintenance booklet all bound within the vinyl Porsche wallet.
With great provenance, low delivery numbers and very few kilometres on the clock your collection wouldn’t be complete without this totally iconic 911 Speedster.
