An all new, more forward thinking generation of the 911 came onto the market in 1989, the same time the G-Series 911 was phased out.

The new 911 Type 964 contained 85 percent new parts but largely retained the more popular classically styled shape and smaller dimensions of its predecessor. It was available in Coupé, Targa and Cabriolet versions and for the first time offered 4 wheel drive.

The ultra-modern 964 offered new coil springs and shock absorbers substantially improving handling and power delivery, aerodynamics were improved using knowledge gained from the Le Mans winning 959 and 962 reducing its drag coefficient to 0.32, and with virtually zero lift greatly improved stability and road holding at high speeds.

A retractable spoiler was added aiding engine cooling and the capacity of the famous flat six increased from 3.2 to 3.6 litres becoming the most powerful normally aspirated 911 production engine ever with 250hp. Australian delivered and sold new by Porsche, Albion in October of 1991 this early 964 Carrera 4 was ordered in iconic Guards Red over a Tan leather interior.

Optioned with manual transmission, rear wiper, electronic seats, cruise control, air conditioning and sunroof this exceedingly original 964 has travelled just 104,000 kilometres.

In what can be only described as time warp condition, outside the panel fit and finish is second to none with many important original items like the Bosch head lights, correct square wing mirrors and Cup 1 magnesium wheels so often changed still present.

Inside, the dash switch gear from the crystal clear instrument binnacle to the levers, buttons and seemingly unused carpets is flawless. Even the hand-stitching on the leather seats is still perfectly tight with typical German systematic precision. This is an impressively well maintained car.

On the road all tell-tale signs show that this 964 has had the right tools used with the right Porsche technicians from day dot. Gear changes have rifle like accuracy, the uninhibited steering feel is tight and quick to react and the perfectly balanced pedals feel as though their cut from one piece.

Accompanying the car are the original books bound within the leather wallet boasting a complete service history and delivery information as well as the original keys.

A time machine in every sense of the phrase, this original and Australian delivered 964 Carrera 4 is unrivalled on the road.

A true drivers car, as modern cars become more and more anaesthetized to road feel, this 911 offers the perfect escape, fit for blasts winding weekend roads that get the blood pumping and take your mind somewhere else altogether.
