When Ferrari unveiled the 348 over three decades ago, it immediately set a new benchmark for mid-engine sports cars. Unveiled for the 1989 Frankfurt Motorshow, the Pininfarina-penned, mid-engined Ferrari 348 was the highly anticipated replacement for the iconically 1980's 328.

With a revised quad-cam V8 engine positioned longitudinally and lower within the chassis, Ferrari were able to install an F1 inspired transversally mounted manual transmission. This offered a much lower centre of gravity allowing weight to be concentrated within the centre of the chassis.

The 348 was also the first production Ferrari to feature a steel monocoque chassis maximising torsional rigidity and these fresh updates made the 348 thrillingly agile.
