Experience the timeless allure and performance of the 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 964 Targa. With its 3.6-liter flat-six engine producing 184 kW, this iconic car accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.5 seconds. The 911 Carrera 2 964 Targa perfectly combines classic appeal with exhilarating driving.

When the 911 Type 964 was first brought to market, Porsche was keen to emphasize that, although it was patently still a 911, it was in fact 87% different from the outgoing model.

The new 911 design featured more integrated bumpers and many mechanical changes.

Displacement was raised to 3600cc, producing an impressive (even by today’s standards) 250hp, power steering and ABS brakes were now fitted as standard, and the old torsion bar rear suspension was replaced with coil springs and shock absorbers. Careful attention was also paid to aerodynamics with a reduced drag coefficient down to 0.32, and with virtually zero lift stability and road holding at high speeds was greatly improved.

The 964 was offered in many variants ranging from four-wheel drive to rear wheel drive, non-turbocharged or turbocharged, coupe or cabriolet, but aside from the 911 Turbo and the Speedster, the rarest of the C2 model range is the classic 911 Targa.

A design manufactured between 1965 and 1992 coming to a holt to what would’ve been the end of an era for the 911 Targa as we knew it (until the 991 series revival), the 964 marks the last of the air-cooled original Targa’s and it is believed that less than (13) right-hand drive Carrera 2 Targa’s were allocated to Australia in total production.

The car offered is an Australian delivered 1992 build for the model year 1992 Porsche 911 Carrera 2 Targa delivered new on the 21st of October 1992 through York Motors, Sydney in special order Zermat Silver over Black leather trim.

Today the car has travelled just 139,270 kilometres and has been serviced by non-other than well regarded Porsche specialists and Porsche dealers.

Just four owners from new, CTS sold this vehicle to its current owner 12 years ago and ever since this 911 has been exceptionally well preserved and fastidiously maintained still with its original paintwork, interior trim and engine, presenting in flawless condition throughout.

Accompanied with two keys, original service booklet, wallet and manuals and a folder documenting works and maintenance over the last 10 years.

For the driver, the 964 offers the perfect blend of modern practicalities and classic motoring, there is no wonder these 964’s are so popular. And, for the collector, the Targa offers the lowest production numbers of all the 964 Carrera’s ever produced. Don’t miss out on this highly sought-after modern sports classic.
