The Type 348 brought Ferrari into the 1990’s with some cleverly subtle design cues that gently nod to the past.

Penned by Pininfarina and featuring the sharp air intakes and rectangular tail lamps that debuted on the monster Testarossa, these stylistic touches were controversial at the 348’s 1989 launch but have since become widely emblematic of a certain era of design from Modena no longer being produced.

For the Type 348, Ferrari’s more traditional tubular frame design was abandoned and replaced with a forward thinking, sportingly-stiff monocoque structure and a tubular sub-frame in the rear that gave the car a perfectly agile feel.

The V8 from the previous generation Type 328 was also uprated and enlarged to 3,405cc and produced 42 more horsepower that are available right throughout the rev range with revs that rise and fall like a classic Ferrari.

Body shapes initially offered were the Coupe and Targa and eventually the Spider that appeared later in 1994, dazzling Ferrari Tifosi with just 68 ever produced in RHD. We’re proud to offer this rare opportunity to secure a special order, 1994 Ferrari 348 Spider in factory RHD finished in traditional Giallo Modena with Black soft-top, Ox Blood Rosso Napa Leather trim and matching carpets, travelled just 37,700 kilometres and with of course, the chrome gated 5 speed manual transmission.

Delivered new to the UK by JCT Brooklands in 1994, the final year of 348 production this is the only 348SP ever produced in this bespoke colour combination and it has been exceptionally well maintained from new, verified by its extensive history folio with all original log books and manuals bound within the original Ferrari stamped leather wallet and a raft of receipts for parts and servicing works.

In outstanding, original condition this collectable and numbers matching sports classic still features its correct 17 inch 5 spoke Speedline alloys with Nero calipers tucked neatly inside, Ferrari factory tool kit, correct gold tinted badging as well as finer details like its original Carello light lenses both front and rear, Cromadora wing mirrors and Sigla glass attesting to its fastidious maintenance.

Inside, the interior is spotless. The bolstering on both sports bucket seats is freshly firm with the double stitching in pristine order, the original switch gear, instrumentation and controls seem untouched and even touch points like the original leather Ghibli steering wheel, door handles and entry sills are in remarkable condition.

Sitting inside this time machine your transported back right into 1994, a golden era for Ferrari design right at the pointy end of the famed wedge shape with contrasted strakes and a drive devoid of aids like traction control and stability control for white knuckle inducing experience if you so decided to poke the bear.

With its high revving 3.4 litre V8 engine and manual transmission, poster-child good looks and unique, head turning colour combination this one of a kind Ferrari 348 Spider is one of Ferrari’s finest. A must drive and a must have that would even satisfy your accountant.
