Released in 1991, BMW’s brand defining 3 Series delivered a sleek new look and a new level of mechanical sophistication with the E36 generation that is still remarkably current today and arguably the last of the classically designed BMW’s.

A purple patch of production that cemented BMW as an innovator of totally engaging sports cars that connect with all the senses from ergonomically driver focused seating, agile sports tuned suspension as well as rev-happy and seriously tourquey engine performance all networked by a front engined - rear wheel drive set-up the E36 3 Series is one of the most exhilarating sports cars of our generation.

A stand out model from the E36 line-up is the 318is. That lower-case "s" is important- it denotes the use of a much better engine making use of a double overhead camshaft cylinder head with four valves per cylinder increasing power from 85kw to 103kw and torque also increases by a decent chunk over the 318i. But the "s" engine not only makes the 3-Series faster, it's also a much more sophisticated unit on road and gives an improved spread of performance.

Cast your mind back to 1995, when Windows 95 was the most installed piece of software, Telecom became Telstra and M. Schumacher won his 2nd of 7 world championships, offered here in remarkable and totally original condition, having been domiciled since new and never extensively driven is a one of a kind 1995 BMW E36 318is in Boston Green over two tone Black and Grey Trim optioned with the slick shifting manual transmission with just 1,238 kilometres on the clock. With this car, it takes so little imagination to believe you are sitting in a brand new BMW on a shiny showroom floor in 1995.

A perfectly preserved survivor, delivered new by Doncaster Motors, Victoria on the 11th November 1995 this uber rare car was a raffle prize won in a casino lottery - the most likely reason for its miniscule kilometres.

Stepping inside this time capsule you immediately notice the factory matte finish across all of the touch points from the ageless switchgear, dash, steering wheel and shift knob. Each button, knob and slider still feels so perfectly weighted.

It still smells brand new inside, the carpets are still firm with zero wear, the well-designed seats are totally untouched and the general feeling in a word is fresh. A finish even unachievable in the hands of the most masterful restoration experts.

Outside, the mint and totally original condition is much the same. From the mirror finish and original paintwork to the perfectly preserved 18 spoke alloys, the unspoiled rubbers and black windscreen wipers all of the subtle nuances point to the rationed use this car has had.

Accompanying the car are all of its original manuals including the service manual with delivery information, selling dealer business cards and even the BMW ball-point pen bound within the original vinyl wallet, the original keys and original registration paperwork.

A totally unique future classic car that no other collector can claim ownership to, there is no better E36 BMW 318is.

The definition of the phrase time warp in three dimensions, and a perfectly preserved slice from a golden period of BMW production never to be repeated, this exceptional car will not last long.
